A Snapshot of Your Day

The Grid Technologies Switch Gear (GT SG) business unit located in Richland, MS. is seeking an experienced, self-driven Production Capacity Planner. As a member of the Operations team the Factory Capacity Planner is responsible for analyzing, planning, and optimizing factory capacity to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources. This role owns the end-to-end capacity planning process, including the creation and management of production slot reservations, to align demand with factory capabilities and constraints. The planner works closely with Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales to balance customer requirements with operational efficiency.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Develop and maintain mid to long term capacity plans based on demand forecasts, order intake, and production capabilities.
• Translate customer orders and forecasts into executable production plans and manage production slot reservations to optimize factory loading.
• Monitor capacity utilization to identify bottlenecks, constraints, and idle capacity, and define mitigation and improvement actions.
• Analyze variances between planned and actual production performance (output, lead time, utilization) and adjust capacity plans accordingly.
• Prepare and present regular capacity reports and KPIs (utilization, plan adherence, on time delivery) for management review.
• Maintain and continuously improve planning processes, SAP master data (routings, work centers, cycle times, constraints), and data accuracy to support reliable capacity planning.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of experience in production planning, capacity planning, or factory scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP PP, SD, and MM modules, including order management, material availability, and shop-floor planning.
• Proven ability to manage capacity, load, and slot reservations using ERP or advanced planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor, APS).
• Experience with manufacturing-to-order, engineer-to-order, material forecasting, and capacity planning processes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
