A Snapshot of Your Day

As a physicist with engineering background, you will be an integral part of the ICB development team and act as a technical expert within the Innovation Centre Berlin Team, helping us with our transformation journey to realize the energy transition for tomorrow and ensure Siemens Energy future.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Engagement in a highly innovative and international R&D environment in the new position as development engineer (f/m/d) to create next-generation electrolysis technologies contributing to the decarbonization of industrial processes
  • Exploration and improvement of fundamental aspects of low-temperature CO2 electrolysis to secure technology leadership in the electrolyzer business and ensure the technological competitiveness of future products
  • Taking a main role in developing innovative electrolyzer core components and advancing these from small lab-scale systems to product-relevant sizes and platforms
  • Supporting the electrolyzer team with advanced technical knowledge and skills in multiphysics simulation, electrical and mechanical engineering, modeling of electrochemical processes, and fluid dynamics
  • Effective work within an international project team in the electrochemical laboratory, increasing the team's capability to develop creative ideas and solutions
  • Promoting the outside-in view and converting innovative ideas from global research and development trends into future directions of R&D activities, translating them into solid technical solutions
What You Bring
  • Successfully completed degree in physics with focus in electrical/mechanical engineering, or comparable disciplines, ideally with a doctorate
  • Professional experience in electrochemical cell design, manufacturing processes, and electrochemical device testing, ideally with focus on CO2 electrolysis
  • Advanced experience in MATLAB, Python, Origin, LabVIEW, and experience in mathematical modeling, then CAD (AutoCAD Inventor), multiphysics FEM / COMSOL, fluid dynamics, interface understanding of physical properties in electrochemical process
  • Knowledge in electrical characterization of devices with focus on understanding and electrical characterization of processes in electrochemical cells. Use of typical laboratory test instruments, measure and control of sensors and actuators, implement to control system
  • Professional experience in modelling of electrochemical processes with various methods towards understanding of industry relevant properties and upscaling methods and also good working knowledge in analyzing data and reporting results at an appropriate technical level for the intended audience with very good communication skills
  • Your daily actions will take place in an international environment; so a very high command of English (spoken and written) is mandatory as well as basic knowledge of German as well
