The Machinist will be responsible for operating mobile equipment, tools, and machinery efficiently and accurately on-site. In this role, you will lead machining work independently, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to safety standards. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform site machining on power plant equipment during overhaul and refurbishment, including components such as casings, rotors, and valves.
- Identify and utilize the proper drawings, documents, and instructions to prepare the machining process based on relevant documentation.
- Determine the necessary machines, tooling, measurement devices, and consumables required for the defined scope of work.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and maintain high-quality expectations throughout the machining process.
- Manage and control site schedules, including machine/tooling packing and lifting, while reporting the condition of machines and tooling before and after assignments.
- Solve problems related to site machining, implement continuous process improvements for cost reduction and productivity enhancement, complete mandatory training, and communicate effectively with shift leaders to organize and adjust schedules with other on-site parties.
What You Bring
- 1 to 5 years of experience operating manual workshop machinery, with familiarity in onsite machining techniques such as portable lathe, boring bar, portable milling, drilling, and grinding.
- Machining technical experience related to gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, or heavy-duty equipment, demonstrating strong hands-on skills.
- Knowledgeable in machining processes including lathe, boring, milling, drilling, and grinding, as well as familiarity with cutting tools, fixtures, and measurement techniques.
- Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, understanding dimensions and geometric tolerances, and familiar with CAD software; ability to create drawings and sketches is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel on short notice for extended periods (national and international), with a valid passport, driver’s license, and crane and forklift licenses.
- Open to working with diverse nationalities and environments, confident in using digital applications (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel), and possess a vocational school or technical college degree in Mechanical Engineering; result-driven, self-motivated, and a team player.
