As the Junior Contract Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating all contractual and commercial operations of the project on a day-to-day basis and that the project comes in on time and on budget. During the construction of the project the Junior Contract Manager role will be to handle, monitor and report back to the Siemens Energy Commercial/ Contract/ Project Management Teams, ensuring the soundness of the project and to solve any issues that may arise.

  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, technical, non-technical, verbal and written, e.g. report writing, email, client meeting, documentation
  • Excellent ability to navigate a fast paced environment and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Highly organised, able to works as part of a team with a high attention to detail.
  • Good foundational knowledge of forms on contracts, standard forms of measurement and construction claims.
  • Good negotiation skills, Commercial acumen and written skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Construction experience is vital.
  • Must have an accredited degree or HNC/HND/BSc/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Project Management or construction related subject.
  • Alternatively, candidates will require a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor, Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Must be willing to undertake in-house and external training to further develop skills required of a Contract Manager (commercial/ contractual training and the like)

Your responsibilities

  • Assisting with tender strategy, tender management and bid processes including production of tender designs and other documents, liaison with external design houses, liaison with various internal departments, review and scrutiny of customer specifications.
  • Procurement, Subcontract negotiation and commercial management
  • Contract administration, site measurement & taking off
  • Owning the project specific sureties, bonds, guarantees, and warranties
  • Assessing and agreeing subcontractor variations/ claims, interim payments and preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Assessing and agreeing subcontractor payment applications
  • Preparation of specifications / contractors proposals
  • Preparation, valuing and submitting client variations/ claims and negotiation of same
  • Preparation, valuing and submitting client payment applications
  • Assisting Project Managers during execution phase of projects
  • Collaborating closely with clients and a variety of professionals, such as civil contractors, engineers and designers, quantity surveyors and internally with design Team and our IE, UK and European teams
  • Monthly reporting, Internal commercial tracking and reporting
  • Risk identification and management
  • Opportunity identification and management
  • Ensure compliance with Siemens Quality Management System, Safety Procedures and Accountancy Policies
  • Identify, scope and schedule changes and ensures completion in accordance with specification and national standards
  • Supervising and coordinating the direction of the project, ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met.
