A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Global Commodity Manager your daily tasks will include managing the cost-effective supply of Production Equipment (CAPEX) in line with company processes based on business requirements. You will collaborate with colleagues from all Siemens Energy Business Areas as well as other partners around the globe. With your experience you will play a vital role in developing commodity strategies for sourcing that meet business objectives and ensure the implementation. As part of the broader Indirect Material organization, you will be embedded in our divers and energized team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Ensuring strategic purchasing for CAPEX investments within Production Equipment for the Siemens Energy sites
  • Negotiating pricing and contracts (establishing and implementing innovative negotiation strategies) through to contract conclusion, and acting as a contact for claim management in such projects
  • Responsible for organizing and carrying out global pooling of requirements, different areas, sites and projects in order to use the purchasing power of the commodity as a whole.
  • Proactive optimization of the entire cross-functional investment process as well as helping to shape and roll out investment strategies within the entire global organization.
  • Proactive analysis of requirements and markets as well as setting up a strong supplier portfolio and defining concepts to include purchasing at an early stage and taking the lead in creating lifecycle cost analyses.
  • Intensive regular contact with internal and external interface partners and technical management responsibility for the Commodity Managers assigned to you at the respective sites.
  • Facilitating knowledge transfers and contribute to the development of a collaborative team environment through sharing of expertise and best practices.
  • Preparing and controlling specific information, data and figures across divisions and area boundaries

What You Bring

  • Successfully completed studies in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a commercial program of study with corresponding technical knowledge
  • Many years of professional experience in purchasing as well as cross-functional experience gained through project deployment in an adjacent functional area
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing and its processes, combined with very good commercial, contract law and manufacturing technology knowledge as well as familiarity with MS Office and SAP
  • Very good spoken and written English, other languages are a plus
  • Intercultural sensitivity, ideally experience abroad
  • Creative, outspoken, analytical and motivational colleague driven by customer orientation with strong negotiating and decision-making skills and the ability to build networks
