Position Overview

The Field Service team lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the field service team. This role involves ensuring that all service tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The focus will be on day-to-day operational topics supporting resourcing, planning of outages, tools and devices required for our activities as well as on strategical development and growth of the Field Service Specialists and their technical skill set.

The position requires expert hands on technical knowledge of High voltage products, power transformer, Synchronous condensers, HVDC, FACTS and has strategic thinking, as well as exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 years proven leadership experience in managing teams, projects, and budgets with proven experience in managing Field Service operations and resource build up and allocation.
  • 10 years of experience and knowledge of the energy sector (including regulatory, environment, safety standards, industry trends, and best practices), with a focus on grid technologies (High Voltage Systems) and services required.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant on-site, sales, project and back-office processes, standards, and requirements, bold to challenge the Status Quo, and implement best-in-class solutions in a diverse, multinational professional environment.
  • Work experience in an engineering role or as a site / field service technical expert would be beneficial.
  • Electrical license.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Positive attitude to work in challenging environment.
  • Understands cultural differences and copes with them effectively to build strong relationships.
  • Strong competence in using IT Tools including Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel, Projects), SAP, and Salesforce applications.
  • Professional English required, where additional Chinese Or German languages will be a benefit.
  • Willing to travel frequently within the Asian Pacific region and from time to time to Europe / Internationally.

Your job description

    • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of field service technicians.
    • Assign tasks and projects to team members based on their skills and experience.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and updates.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to field service technicians.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues on-site.
    • Ensure all service tasks are performed in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
    • Identify training needs and provide ongoing training to field service technicians.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
    • Ensure all field service activities comply with health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
    • Manage strategic business assets and resources.
    • Promote a safe working environment and address any safety concerns promptly.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in various field environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client sites.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labour and stand for extended periods.
