We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer for HVDC, Converter Control.

In our team, we design, implement, and verify the hardware and software for advanced control and protection technology in innovative converter systems for HVDC applications. During project execution and commissioning, we ensure that every converter operates reliably and meets the highest performance standards.

Our diverse, multinational teams collaborate closely with project management, system and equipment engineering, as well as with end customers to deliver customized solutions built on the latest innovations in HVDC technology.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Advancing the energy transition by bringing HVDC projects to successful completion for our customers
  • Ensuring technically flawless, on-time, and economical commissioning of HVDC systems
  • Conducting integration and functional testing of control and protection (C&P) systems in our test facilities in Raleigh
  • Preparing and executing testing procedures and programs for converter control, including the necessary verification documentation
  • Supporting quality, risk, and claim management activities
  • Participating in improvement programs such as Lean, Reviews, and Lessons Learned


What You Bring 

  • Degree in electrical engineering preferred, energy technology, or a comparable qualification
  • Experience in the commissioning of industrial plants preferred
  • Knowledge in testing via MATLAB/SIMULINK and PLC plus knowledge/experience in the field of power electronics, high-voltage systems or automation technology
  • Team player, communicative, shows initiative, deals positively with conflicts and can make decisions
  • Willingness for worldwide travel and extended onsite or offshore assignments

Travel, as needed (~6-9 months in Raleigh, 6-9 months in different location).

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
