A Snapshot of Your Day 

As an expert in investment casting, you are responsible for the development and release of serial production at casting facilities for the hot gas components of gas turbines. The primary goal is to meet quality requirements, with a strong focus on adhering to customer schedules and agreed-upon costs for development and parts. As a member of the development team for new turbine components, you are responsible for creating casting product definitions that enable robust manufacturing. Additionally, you are responsible for providing ongoing technical support for the serial production at casting suppliers.

How You’ll Make an Impact 
  • Membership in an international team of technical supplier managers and experts in casting and additive manufacturing. Project leadership for product and process qualifications (PPQ) of hot gas parts made from super alloys. Responsibility for serial production at assigned suppliers
  • Active involvement in the technology roadmap, initiation of trials for feasibility studies, and implementation of new design features. Implementation of lessons learned from serial production and feasibility studies into the Design for Manufacturing Guideline
  • Early involvement in the engineering product development process to provide manufacturability feedback. Participation in product definition reviews as the responsible reviewer. Estimation of development and delivery lead times for projects. Creation of project plans using input from suppliers and the supply chain to align with customer needs. Provision and management of capital and expense budget plans relative to program development
  • Participation in the formal vendor selection process, supplying critical technical insights for relevant parts and casting suppliers. Evaluation of quotations regarding technical requirements, resulting costs, and potential levers for negotiation. Support for make-or-buy decisions
  • Definition of acceleration measures to mitigate project delays by utilizing alternative approaches to meet customer needs. Alignment of these measures with the projects and organization of the required budget
  • Promotion of cost and lead time reduction activities at assigned casting suppliers
What You Bring
  • Engineering degree in manufacturing/casting technology, materials engineering, industrial engineering, supplier management or a similar discipline
  • Knowledge of the investment casting industry and its sub-suppliers. Minimum of 5 years of working experience in casting, project, and supply management. Experience in an international environment and at the interface between R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply management. Preferable experience with turbine blades and vanes and/or required manufacturing and testing technologies
  • Proven track record in investment casting, manufacturing technology, project management, supplier qualification, and knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies
  • Experience in casting engineering, project management, and successful management of virtual cross-functional teams in an international environment
  • Fluency in English. Willingness to learn German if German language skills are limited. Additional language skills are welcome but not mandatory
  • High intercultural competency and willingness to travel as well as strong organizational skills, analytical working methods, and strategic thinking
