A Snapshot of Your Day

As a CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in manufacturing precision-engineered components. Your day will involve setting up and operating CNC grinding and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment, interpreting engineering drawings, and ensuring components meet exact quality and accuracy standards. You’ll work closely with production and engineering teams to deliver reliable, efficient manufacturing solutions in a safe and organised environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Set up and operate CNC grinding and EDM machine tools to produce precision components.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to define machining operations.

  • Measure and inspect components using hard gauging, CMMs, and visual inspection techniques.

  • Carry out routine machine and equipment maintenance to support reliable performance.

  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area in line with health and safety requirements.

  • Record and report production data, including quantities produced, dimensions, and any deviations from specification.

What You Bring

  • Completion of a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or relevant technical qualification in engineering.

  • Proven experience working as a machinist within a manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC grinding and EDM machines.

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining specifications.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and inspection.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

  • Strong commitment to safe working practices and operational efficiency.
