A Snapshot of Your Day

The Senior Technical Writer Engineer is an important part of our team and plays a pivotal role in aligning with the requirements of our product lines. Under the guidance of the LCI Team Lead, responsibilities will include various organizational activities and process enhancement.

The selected candidate will be primarily involved in the development and implementation of operating and installation manuals (IOM) in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. The technical communication specialist will be responsible for the development and harmonization of IOM in the global editorial system within the team.

This role involves cross-disciplinary coordination with departments such as Engineering, Project Management and Purchasing. The successful candidate will be responsible for monthly reporting on critical OTD metrics (On-Time-Delivery) and independent management of customer specific manuals.

This role is designed for a Technical Writer with Engineering background who brings a combination of technical expertise, communication proficiency, and the ability to drive team development and process improvements within a dynamic and collaborative engineering environment!

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Draft, review, and update IOM manuals for customer projects, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and product liability.
  • Engage in and contribute to organizational initiatives, such as digitalization and process improvements, as directed.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly reports and manage critical metrics related to team OTD.
  • Independently manage assigned projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and contracts.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of standard technical documents.
  • Manage supplier documentation, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; engineering, mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or equivalent degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level position.
  • Must have Technical Writing experience including foundational editorial skills in text and image design with proficiency in tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Creative Suite; additional experience with Component Content Management Systems (CCMS), ST4, or similar editorial systems is recommended.
  • Proficiency in Installation, Commissioning, Operation, and Maintenance Manuals (IOMs) and In-depth knowledge of American and European directives and standards relevant to mechanical and plant engineering, technical publications, and product liability is required.

This job is based in Olean, New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html. The base salary range for this position in Olean, New York is $73,000.00- $110,000.00.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
