As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will be part of a growing function in a position that entails a large responsibility!
In your role, you will collaborate closely with suppliers and commodity managers with a shared target to secure qualified deliveries from qualified suppliers. We work in a multicultural environment with contacts with different departments locally and globally. Networking is a key to success.
A part of your responsibility within commodities Large Steel Fabrication and Major Buyouts for Energy projects will be supplier qualifications, product and process qualifications, addressing nonconformances, Root Cause Analysis, and implementing preventative measures & risk mitigation measures.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Serve as the main interface with suppliers on technical and quality aspects, collaborating with engineering to enhance product manufacturability and reduce costs.
- Lead multi-functional teams in assessing supplier capabilities and auditing their quality management systems.
- Lead all aspects of Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) for large fabricated structures, tracking project turning points and providing technical support to suppliers.
- Approve manufacturing processes and inspections through submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plans and FMEAs.
- Conduct supplier oversight and inspections during PPQ, including functional tests and dimensional inspections, while addressing non-conformances with corrective actions.
- Support supplier development through performance analysis, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with management system protocols.
What You Bring
- A college or university education in Welding or Mechanical or Material engineering or similar with professional experience or an equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Manufacturing Engineer and/or Supplier Quality Engineer in qualifying suppliers for fabricated large steel structures / mechanical assemblies.
- Proven experience in leading international projects while collaborating with virtual multi-functional teams, showcasing strong organizational, strategic, and analytical skills along with intercultural expertise. Preferred experience with ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Lean/Six Sigma, and Quality Management Module for SAP and CWI certification.
- Extensive knowledge in Welding, Non-Destructive Testing, and familiarity with ASME BPV & Piping and AWS D1.1 code requirements, along with proficiency in GD&T and manufacturing process development.
- Fluent in English with strong computer skills, including MS Office and SAP ERP and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30-40% of the time.

Our function "Supplier Quality & Development" acts as a support to procurement and manufacturing with preventive and reactive measures. Our team is acting as a global team across business areas and regions providing standards and tools to ensure quality and delivery of all purchased goods.
This position directly supports Compressor & Steam Turbine product line within business area Transformation Industry out of Houston, Texas
