A Snapshot of Your Day

The Senior Transformer Technician (STT) at Siemens Energy handles field service projects independently, specializing in the assembly, testing, and repair of transformers. This role often involves working under the Crew Leader (CL) with direct reporting to the National Resource Manager (NRM). Communication with supervisors is crucial during and between projects. The STT may also temporarily lead crews as needed. The position requires extensive travel and flexible schedules due to varying field conditions.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Conduct complex transformer service operations with advanced technical skills.
  • Resolve equipment issues using extensive knowledge and experience, and recommend procedural enhancements.
  • Maintain clear communication about project details, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Mentor junior technicians in safe and effective equipment operations.
  • Lead transformer testing and troubleshooting, interpreting and explaining results to all partners.
  • Manage all aspects of transformer service tasks including rigging.
  • Ensure all work meets Quality Assurance specifications and conduct pre-completion inspections.
  • Help in planning and coordinating field projects, managing resources, and preparing reports.
  • Maintain budget adherence for work hours and vendor deliveries.
  • Train others in brazing and crimping transformer leads following IEEE standards.
  • Oversee the re-gasketing of transformers and create new gaskets/O-rings.
  • Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are in safe operating condition and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Uphold Siemens Energy’s EH&S policies and adhere to customer and industry regulations.

What you bring

  • Proven multitasking ability, managing priorities and supervising team activities.
  • Skilled in the assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transformers and related accessories.
  • Interpret work scope, drawings, diagrams, and technical documents proficiently.
  • Operate transformer oil processing equipment with complete documentation.
  • Support testing of transformers and accessories, documenting results proficiently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and online tools.
  • Extensive experience and strong industrial wiring and troubleshooting skills.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills and professional client interaction.
  • Collaborative, capable of working effectively both in teams and independently.
  • Operate construction equipment safely and maintain Class A CDL.
  • At least 6 years of experience in technical roles related to electrical transformers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Mandatory EH&S/OSHA training or willingness to undergo training.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
