A Snapshot of Your Day
You are responsible for the delivery of the Civil Works of a large-scale Siemens Energy project (HVDC-Station, Grid Access Onshore Station, Power Generation Plant) to cost, time & Quality and supporting the wider project team in the delivery of the project objectives.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Executing the project / work package within the defined requirements (e.g. cost, time, functionality).
- Managing of civil contractors and civil designers (monthly progress meetings, time schedule, quality, contract management)
- Cost controlling of civil scope (Cost Forecast, accounting, claim management, risk management) providing full transparency of budgets and expected costs to complete.
- Ensuring all potential risks, variations and opportunities are identified and reported to the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager / Project Director as soon as possible.
- Coordination of external civil detail designer (provision of SE design input, review of Detail Design with respect to SE requirements, integration into Siemens' 3D model)
- Consideration and evaluation of relevant customer specifications
- Application of (local) standards and regulations, in cooperation with local authorities, design offices and construction companies
- Preparation of technical RfQ documents for Civil Works and Civil Detail Design (scope description, specifications, BoQ´s)
- Support for Tendering of civil works and civil design (Technical evaluation of civil offers, participation in civil tender negotiations, technical recommendation for contract award)
- Technical guidance of Siemens' civil site management
- Coordination / interface clarification with internal / external project partners
- Set in place work packages for the assigned Design Engineers on all design, interfaces, and specifications.
- Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, escalating if necessary.
- Undertake and manage subcontract offer evaluations and recommendations for award
- Chair technical and progress meetings with subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Monitor the budget on monthly basis and ensure that actual costs received from subcontractors will not affect the budget / risk contingencies allocated.
- Communicate all design issues to civil contractor’s designer / internal designer highlighting the timescale required and impact to delivery works
- Manage the civil program and monitor progress against the baseline in conjunction with the project planner. Challenge Subcontractors on progress, logic and slippage and ensure recovery programas are implemented where required.
- Identify risks of slippages and programs mitigation measures to avoid impact on critical path.
What You Bring
- University degree in civil engineering
- Good Communicator and Pro-active approach
- Experience of working as part of a Project Delivery Team
- Good technical knowledge in all areas of civil engineering as well as good handling of MS Office tools, ideally iTwo
- Business fluent in English language, German language is considered a plus.
- Ability to work in a team, assertiveness, initiative, communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel worldwide.
- Several years of relevant professional experience in industrial and plant construction.
- Higher education program with focus on construction management is desirable.
- Project Management certification e.g. IPMA, APMP etc.
