About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
The Grid Technologies Products (GT PR) business unit in Richland, MS is in need of a motivated Production Material Controller who is diligent and thorough. As a key member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for requesting and coordinating the delivery of materials from the warehouse to ensure a timely and accurate supply for multiple product groups within the Richland factory. Your day will involve close collaboration with production supervisors and planners to make sure materials are available at the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantities to support efficient production processes. You will play a vital role in maintaining optimal inventory levels, supporting Kanban systems, and facilitating material flow through proactive pre-staging and picking requests. This position is integral to the success of the Production Scheduling team and the overall operational performance of the site.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Request required materials from the warehouse, ensuring accuracy in type, quantity, and timing.
- Monitor material availability and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to guarantee timely delivery to the correct production locations.
- Collaborate closely with production supervisors and production planners to anticipate material needs based on production schedules and forecasts.
- Track inventory levels and report discrepancies or potential shortages to relevant departments.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and transactions.
- Resolve material-related issues promptly to prevent production delays.
- Participate in regular inventory audits and cycle counts.
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to company policies and safety procedures related to material handling.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics, supply chain, or related field is a plus.
- Experience in material control, inventory management, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments, especially with production managers and production planners.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or ERP software is an advantage.
