Role Profile : Operations Engineer  

Location: Ireland – Home based with regular travel to customer sites


A Snapshot of Your Day


Siemens Energy deliver systems & solutions to the energy industry that provide safe operation and monitoring of power systems and equipment using a range of primary, protection, control and SCADA products.

Your role will be to respond to technical problems, breakdowns and customer queries relating to systems and solutions covered by service level agreements. Deliver functional enhancements to existing sites (small projects). Contribute to, improve and develop business processes, procedures and tools.


What You Bring  

Your knowledge will cover an array of systems and Siemens solutions. You will be expected to share knowledge with the more junior members of the team to further develop a strong technical support group removing any reliance on individual team members.
Microsoft Office skills including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability effectively interact with all stakeholders.
Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Effective ability to multi-task in order to handle concurrent duties throughout the day.
Proven background and several years experience of project delivery for one or more of the following disciplines: SCADA, Control, Protection, Telecommunications or Primary.
Exposure to one of the following technologies SVCs, HVDC or STATCOMs.
Strong experience troubleshooting technological or electrical issues.
Good working knowledge of operational or industrial networks.
Experience in specifying, provisioning or maintaining information systems within an operational or office environment. 
Basic knowledge of electrical control or supply systems
 


How You’ll Make an Impact

Customer facing support for high profile clients such TSO/DNO and Renewable transmission asset operators
Implementation, configuration and fault finding of HVDC/STATCOM/SVC systems and to carry out control and protection fault finding & commissioning.
Building on existing and maintaining relationships with internal business partners for engineering support.
Provide accurate estimates and reports of test progress.
Maintain test area equipment and the logs of location and calibration.
Manage faults from initial contact to completion in accordance with SLA’s.
Manage and deliver individually identified projects outside of post delivery service agreements.
Utilise Protection/SVC knowledge to support the Asset Lifecycle team.
Proactively respond to specific customer requests in a timely manner and produce written evidence of fault response and customer service.
Manage all cases and equipment repairs using the appropriate tools and processes in place within the business.
