A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a Nuclear Quality Engineer to support the North America Gas Services Quality Management for the Pickering Refurbishment project. The scope of the job incorporates all quality related, and customer determined activities to meet the targeted results regarding quality. This position will serve as the direct quality oversight function for activities performed by the third party engineering firm supporting the Pickering Refurbishment Project to ensure compliance with applicable Nuclear Quality standards like CSA N286.12, N299.1.

This role enables you to regularly collaborate with different partners with a focus on contract alignment, project quality work, nonconformance resolution/prevention, and customer satisfaction. This role also provides autonomy and growth opportunities to foster a variety of work experiences and will require travel to supplier and customer facilities during source release.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Project Quality: Define and implement an oversight plan for the third-party engineering firm in accordance with the applicable standards and contractual work you're doing. Support stakeholders in planning project quality achievement results; collaborate with other QM teams and other functions.
  • Quality reporting: Define, maintain, and report quality status related to third party engineering firm activities. Lead quality incidents and root-cause-analysis investigations in partnership with stakeholders. Communicate quality targets to all people affected or involved. Advance project-endangering situations to QM.
  • Quality in processes and projects: Ensure execution of quality plan and quality gate process through active involvement in readiness checks and participation in quality gate meetings. Take measures in case of non-conformity and initiate corrective actions.
  • Continuous improvement: Plan, initiate and coordinate continuous improvement actions planning during planning, design engineering, and construction related to our third part engineering firm. Promote good practice sharing and use of experience through learning grams or other means to the project team.
  • Audits and assessments: Plan and conduct audits, assessments, reviews and participate in status meetings related to the third-party engineering firm. Ensure implementation of (improvement) measures.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.), preferably in an Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in one or more of the following – manufacturing/construction quality, field service quality, project quality management, Quality Assurance.
  • Act as an expert and support the field staff as partner by planning, oversight and reporting of relevant activities with regards to failure prevention and effective proceedings
  • Strong analytical, facilitation and presentation skills with emphasis on proven use of RCA tools. Ability to drive teamwork to produce effective results.
  • Exercise authority to intervene at any stage in the project, in case of non-conformance in proceedings and project results and background in design engineering activities related to major EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) projects.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
