A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR DAY

Working with the Manufacturing Manager and Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the accurate assessment of components that have been removed from our overhauled Small Gas Turbines, as part of the Engine Reclaim Process. You will make decisions, using set criteria, to ascertain if the component is repairable or scrap. This outcome is defined with the use of calibrated measuring tools both manual and electronic. More specifically, you will be tasked in the programming and use of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to gain more accurate measurements for certain components.


HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

-  Responsible for Programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS or Quindos software1.

-  Demonstrated knowledge of PC-DMIS or Quindos software1, SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

-  Define, perform and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions.

-  Knowledge of safe working environment and implementation of current H&S legislation into working practices.

-  Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols.

-  Interface with supporting departments such as Design, Assembly, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers.

-  Generate and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

-  Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes.

-  Lead and manage projects within Manufacturing taking responsibility for delivery, project planning & execution and cost.


WHAT YOU BRING

-  High energy level and able to work flexible hours. You will be working alternate Earlies and Late shifts.

-  Willingness to undertake CMM programming and machine operation. Experience in this field is desirable.

-  Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels are essential.

-  Demonstrable computer skills in SAP, Microsoft Office and other software packages.

-  Strong mindset for continuous improvement and Health and safety awareness.

-  Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

-  Lean awareness skills

-  Qualifications: HNC with usually 2 year’s relevant manufacturing experience or Graduate first appointment after 2 years general training for the Manufacturing Engineer role or ONC with usually 2 year’s relevant manufacturing experience for Manufacturing Technician role but a need to work towards an HNC.

-  Both roles require sound understanding of drawings and relevant systems.



ABOUT THE TEAM

You will be working with other Manufacturing Engineers and for a Senior ME who will be teaching you the operation of the CMM machine. This will be part of your core duty, along with the basic assessment process, to ensure we have quality parts available for repair and subsequent fitment to our Small Gas Turbines. You will report to the Manufacturing Manager who also manages the Engine Reclaim process; a process prior to the assessment of the parts, who in turn reports to the Head of Assembly, Test and Overhaul, as part of the Lincoln Service Centre.
