About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
A day in the life of an Apprentice involves a balanced schedule of approximately 2.5 days in school to pursue a Machinist associate degree and 2.5 days in the shop to learn machining fundamentals. The Apprentice follows a structured curriculum to track progress, verifies work through electronic quality instruction sheets, and communicates any missing components to supervisors or mentors. Weekly reports are submitted to the training department detailing accomplishments from both school and work. At the end of each shift, the Apprentice cleans the workspace and provides instructions to the next shift while gaining valuable experience in diverse teams. Additionally, the Apprentice offers guidance and training to fellow apprentices, ensuring they demonstrate the key responsibilities and knowledge required for the role
How You’ll Make an Impact
- In the first year you will gain knowledge about machining fundamentals both at school and work.
- In the 2nd year, you will be assigned to a larger machine and begin learning the details about how to work safely and efficiently as you continue to take classes.
- By the 3rd year, you will begin to operate your machine/machines on your own and continue to take classes.
- In the 4th year, you will become proficient at 1 or more machines and complete your classes.
- In 4 years, you will earn a Journeyman certificate and a 2-year machining degree.
- Become familiar with all tools and equipment on the campus
What You Bring
- Must have completed 1 year of apprenticeship program within the Siemens Energy
- Proficient and reading and understanding drawings
- Expected to always prioritize their own safety and the safety of those around you
- Driven and take initiatives to efficiently perform the given responsibilities
- HS diploma or equivalent. Specialized skill training/certification may be required.
- Attend courses regularly and seek help from your mentors if you realize you are struggling

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
