A Snapshot of Your Day

In the combination of a field service and system engineering engineer, you are both a representative of Siemens Energy on site at our customers and a system engineer at our company. In systems engineering, you think beyond the pure technology of the turbine by offering customers complex process engineering solutions that fit their existing plant configuration. Our portfolio is very broad and ranges from simple optimization of components to complete replacement of the turbine with all auxiliary systems. The guiding principle for you is to increase the efficiency of the overall process - your contribution to reducing emissions and saving energy. In field service, you will ensure the quality of our deliveries by testing protection systems and optimizing controls within the respective process environment. Feedback of your experience from the field to the engineering teams ensures that our product, the industrial steam turbine, is subject to continuous improvement within the customer's process environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Development of systems engineering proposals for industrial steam turbine service projects
  • Technical clarification with the customer, project management and other engineering departments
  • Preparation of design documents, such as flow diagrams or engineering drawings, and specification of system engineering components
  • Independent project management with monitoring of the schedule and cost plan
  • Perform initial or repeat tests on protection and control systems, as well as control optimization and troubleshooting on-site at the customer's facility
  • Independent, control and process engineering commissioning, of steam turbines up to handover to the customer
What You Bring
  • Successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering or similar engineering discipline
  • Enjoyment of practical work, ideally with completed vocational training prior to the degree program
  • Extensive knowledge of process engineering for power plant processes including operations management, turbine control, and processes beyond the turbine
  • Experience in the planning/design of ancillary equipment such as condensers, oil systems as well as piping
  • Knowledge of recent software applications for flowsheet generation, piping design and construction
  • Confident handling of MS Office, SAP and Teamcenter
  • Strong team spirit
  • Business fluent German and fluent English, further language skills desirable
  • Willingness to travel, worldwide
  • Driving license class B (Germany)
