How You will Make an Impact

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, responsible for the technical activities in the areas of instrumentation and controls of a gas turbine power plant. The primary responsibility of this job is to conduct I&C (Instrument/Controls) functions safely, reliably, efficiently and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Duties Include:

1. Performs instrument calibrations, field checks, troubleshooting, and maintenance on control equipment or other equipment, as assigned. Maintains and installs control, monitoring, alarm and indicating systems and their individual components. This includes, but is not limited to, protective relays, turbine controls, voltage regulators, inverters and battery charger controls, motors, lighting, and grounding.

2. Performs upkeep of the maintenance management system and other administrative tasks as assigned. Maintain logs of problems, repairs, and downtime.

3. Maintenance of DCS and PLC systems (Siemens T3000, Ovation, and Allen Bradley).

4. Performs and evaluates plant tests.

5. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC and fire systems.

6. Maintains facility equipment through corrective, predictive, and planned activities.

7. Monitors projects regarding schedule, manpower, material needs, and safety as assigned.

8. May be required to perform tests, repairs, and modifications while systems are online.

9. Identifies design improvements and/or problems; recommends and installs modifications necessary for resolution.

10. Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements safe work practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and/or implement repairs.

11. Works with outside contractors during overhauls or at other times, as required.

12. Trains others to gain knowledge as required. Provides training of new hires, as needed. Receives training to further knowledge, prepare for advancement and maintain safety awareness.

13. Assists in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events; provides input and recommendations for reports and follow-up plans.

14. Writes, reviews and revises maintenance and related procedures.

15. Provides hands-on troubleshooting of equipment/systems (AC/DC) and provides/performs corrective action. Performs failure analysis to determine the cause of equipment/system malfunction.

16. Completes all training/qualifications required to be an I&C Technician.

17. Available to work overtime both scheduled and unscheduled, on days off and beyond regular work schedule and to perform shift work, including holidays, nights, and weekends, when required.

18. Attends to housekeeping at the end of each job/task. Responsible for maintaining the plant (ex: personal desk, department, and plant areas) in a clean and neat manner.

19. Performs job safety analysis, as well as other tasks assigned.

20. Follows all safety/environmental policies, procedures, rules and participates in training. Promotes the Company’s HSE vision through actions and conduct.

What you will bring:

1. Technical and Industry Experience with power plant equipment and instrumentation.

1. Ability to read, write and speak in the English language and perform basic mathematical computations, high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associate degree/certification in Instrumentation preferred.

2. Five years of experience as an Instrument Technician in a power plant environment.

3. Knowledge of HRSG’s, Combustion Turbines, Generators, Transformers, Switchgear and Systems, Instruments, Controls, and Relaying equipment.

4. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.

5. Ability to read and understand P&IDs, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

6. Good communication skills both verbal and written.

7. Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

8. Background in electricity, electronics, and instrumentation functions.

9. Proficient use of standard test equipment.

10. Ability to work at various heights from aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding, and in areas of high noise and temperature extremes.

11. Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting, instrument calibration, and programming electrical equipment.

12. Ability to work scheduled hours, overtime both scheduled and unscheduled, on days off, and beyond regular work schedule. Ability to perform shift work, including holidays, nights, and weekends, when required.

13. Ability to deal with outside contractors and vendors.
