We’re looking for a dedicated engineer with strong background in heat transfer design to join our Gas Turbine Combustion Design team as heat transfer SME and Engineer for all large gas turbine combustion system development. You would be intimately involved in development of various parts of the combustion system. You would collaborate with the combustion aerodynamic, mechanical, testing, procurement and manufacturing team and add to the entire project team working on the design of new combustion systems.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design of the latest combustion hardware supporting Siemens Energy's decarbonization goals. Applying the latest thermal design techniques for both conventional and additive manufactured parts.
  • Develop thermal test plans and coordinate tests to develop and qualify complex gas turbine combustion hardware while collaborating with the product team to get the design implement, conduct/support reviews for design release.
  • SME: Support the organization progressing the field; Key Contact for Management as the authority in technical topics. Review & direct Component / Technology Owners in maintaining Procedures and Philosophies. And Global technical authority in combustion and heat transfer field.

What You Bring

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required
  • 7 years demonstrated experience in area of heat transfer with 5 years in combustion/gas turbine heat transfer. Experience using correlation-based fluid-mechanics and heat transfer to design gas turbine components
  • SME: and Engineer positions are available, and consideration will be given based on the educational background and proven experience.
  • Extensive technological knowledge in the field of combustion heat transfer.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Current SE employees with existing visa sponsorship may be eligible for visa transfer.

What You Preferably Bring

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A desire to drive employees and technologies
  • Possess excellent skills to collaborate across teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAD, ANSYS, Teamcenter.
  • Experience using sophisticated diagnostic techniques for thermal validation

About the Team

Through our Generation division, we improve and innovate conventional and renewable power supply. Currently, we're reducing carbon emissions of existing assets and developing technologies that transform power generation applications.

Specifically, the combustion design engineer is in charge of the design of combustion systems for large gas turbines, that produce and deliver the hot gas into the 1st turbine stage of the gas turbine.

We work closely with combustion manufacturing engineering on the development of ground breaking technology which is evident in the newly released 9000HL gas turbine with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz variants.
