A snapshot of your day
As the Head of Civil Construction at Siemens Energy, your day involves strategic planning, project oversight, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and fostering innovation. Your role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of civil construction projects while promoting a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement. You will lead and inspire your team, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure that all projects align with Siemens Energy standards and goals.
How you'll make an impact
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Lead to oversee our team of civil site managers and site engineers in the UK market. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the complete civil works scope in power plant, HVDC converter station, and electrical infrastructure construction projects. This role requires strong leadership, project management, and technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of civil site managers and site engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Work closely with the Head of Civil Engineering within PE EN UK ensuring a seamless life cycle approach for Civil Engineering
- Coordinate the planning, execution, and completion of civil construction projects, ensuring alignment with quality standards, regulations regarding safety, and project timelines.
- Engage with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address any issues that may arise.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including reports, schedules, and budgets.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess project status, provide technical support, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Encourage a culture of ongoing improvement, promoting standard methodologies and innovative solutions within the team.
- Fulfil the role of Designated Individual e.g. Temporary Works & Nominated Duty Holder appointments
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field. A master's degree is desirable.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the civil construction industry, preferably in power plant, HVDC converter station, or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Excellent site and project management skills, with the ability to handle different projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with collaborators at all levels.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Strong Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Nebosh National Certificate in Construction.
- CITB/CSCS/CPCS certification: SMSTS, Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course, CSCS Black Managers card, CPCS Appointed Person (A61- Lifting Operations) etc.
- Chartered Status with a relevant construction professional body i.e. ICE, CIOB or equivalent.
- Experience working in the UK market and familiarity with local regulations and standards
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and environmental regulations.
