A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Field Service Technician within the Grid Technology Services – Substation Upgrades business, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective performance of high-voltage substations. Your work includes equipment monitoring, maintenance, repair, and on-site technical support. This role requires extensive travel, non-standard schedules, and close coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be on site 3 days per week, working 10-hour shifts, and will be on call 24/7 with a 1–2-hour response time required in the event of an emergency.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on substation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Siemens' and customer safety, environmental, and quality standards on-site.
  • Accurately complete service reports, time and expense logs, and use digital tools to document work.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal teams, and third-party contractors to execute service activities effectively.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by recommending process or equipment enhancements.
  • Support project scope planning, workforce coordination, and resource allocation as needed.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with substation maintenance, installation, or commissioning is preferred; training is available for the right candidate.
  • OSHA 30 certification and familiarity with construction site protocols.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn digital reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% based on project requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge in SAP (or other software/hardware).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
