Siemens Energy have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial and Finance manager to join the team in Manchester. The successful candidate will be working on High Voltage and Renewable Energy transmission projects. You will report to the Commercial Head of Operations and will be responsible for commercial management, accounting, reporting, and controlling of these projects during their completion and warranty phases.

Commercial responsibilities
• Commercial and financial responsibility for all High Voltage and Renewable Energy transmission projects under warranty or identified to be in completion phase
• Provide commercial leadership to the completion and warranty department through working closely with the technical head for the department and other responsible technical managers
• Be well versed with the contractual warranty terms and evaluate and manage the risk exposure to the business
• Interface with the legal team as required during the project completion and warranty phases
• Evaluate existing commercial and financial processes around warranty, project completion as well as handover from protect execution to warranty
• Identity and implement process improvements
• Establish a commercial warranty strategy for each project and proactively evaluate how Siemens Energy’s interests could be protected
• Engage in discussions with customers and suppliers regarding warranty claims and completion topics to find mutually acceptable solutions
• Strive towards establishing and maintaining sustainable customer and supplier relationships
• Work together with the technical head for the department to establish and monitor suitable KPIs
• Understand, evaluate, and manage exposure to any warranty bonds, parent company guarantees, performance bonds etc relating to these projects through close collaboration with the central guarantees department

Financial responsibilities
• Maintain cost monitors for each project through regular review and analysis of the costs incurred
• Create an infrastructure to capture and monitor costs with reasonable level of disaggregation
• Present project financials during monthly project review meetings
• Review defect notices and support technical PM with the forecasting of the costs
• Produce monthly forecasts in close collaboration with the technical colleagues
• Review, evaluate and book variation orders
• Review and approve applications for payments and provide payment certificates
• Review and approve supplier invoices
• Prepare and post monthly journals
• Recover costs from the factories where applicable through providing supporting evidence
• Maintain a warranty provision schedule that tracks changes and utilisation of the provision

What do we require from you:
• Proven experience in Commercial management of projects, Accounting and Controlling, Reporting, Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
• Qualified accountant ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent
• Part Qualified candidates with an intention to complete their qualification will also be considered
• Certified CPM at C level or have intention to get certified
• Expertise in SAP and MS Office
• Process oriented person with strong analytical skills
• Exposure to risk management is an advantage
• Self-organised individual with the ability to adhere to timelines
• Accurate in work preparation and diligent in documentation
• Strong communicator with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
• Appreciation and interest for the industry we operate in

• Someone who is able influence and drive positive change
