A Snapshot of Your Day

The day-to-day life of a Field Service Engineer specializing in digital metrology can be very diverse. At a client site, you might scan dimensions on a compressor casing and use software to build a digital assembly. On other days, you might provide remote analysis or collaborate with the project management team on a future outage that requires a laser tracker to assist with equipment alignment.

This role demands the ability to multi-task effectively across various topics, often necessitating quick responses to ensure that field activities proceed without delay. The Field Engineer needs to be able to cross between tasks quickly and efficiently, sometimes with short notice. How You’ll Make an Impact

  • This function includes a broad range of engineering activities which encompasses Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors
  • Field Engineer is accountable for performing advanced field service digital metrology to aid field service execution teams, solving customer issues, and supporting project planning. The Field Engineer will be using laser trackers, blue light laser scanners, terrestrial scanners, and supporting software suites to collect critical dimensions supporting field service and repair execution. Strong problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Provide remote technical assistance and support for Siemens Energy digital metrology activities. Assist with creation and updating of digital metrology work procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s and machine drawings
  • Previous work experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment a plus
  • Field Engineer must be comfortable with direct client interaction, being able to communicate progress, schedules, and open items with client; prepare detailed technical reports.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of working experience with digital metrology tools such as laser scanners and laser trackers is required.
  • Experience with Polyworks Metrology Suite, Creaform OS, VX Elements, FARO Scene, or similar is preferred. Must be proficient in Windows® and Office®.
  • BS or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Industrial, Thermo, Aero or Electrical Engineering fields is preferred.
  • Experience with centrifugal/turbo compressors, reciprocating compressors, and steam turbines is preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 50% of the time.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license and either holds or is able to obtain a passport and TWIC card. Ability to complete offshore survival training if requested.
