Our team of Corporate Grant Managers focuses on direct R&D public funding in Germany, the EU, and the USA. Due to the growth in funding projects and activities, we are seeking additional support for the Germany and EU region.
As an External Funding Manager, you will play a pivotal role in securing and managing external funding to support our R&D projects and initiatives. You will oversee the comprehensive management of grant applications, including payment requests, amendments, and compliance. Additionally, you will manage global reporting and stakeholder communication, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

Support throughout the entire lifecycle of a publicly funded project:
  • Guide and support the preparation of project proposals: Identify suitable funding opportunities, assist in writing, providing templates, reviewing, and final submission Answer questions to the grantor after submission
  • Project accompaniment: Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution, adherence to project milestones, and timely completion, including payment requests, amendments, and compliance with grant conditions
  • Final reports: Prepare reports after project completion or after the end of reporting periods (EU), including recalculation of eligible actual hourly rates and audit-proof documentation.
  • Audits: Conduct price reviews or audits of billed costs and evidence after project completion
General PMO Tasks:
  • Global reporting: Track all public funding activities and prepare ad-hoc and regular reports and key figures. Aim for a high degree of automation (e.g., PowerBI)
  • R&D budget planning process: Consolidate all SE external funding projects in the annual R&D budget planning process in close cooperation with business areas
  • Funding strategy development: Further develop and align Siemens Energy's funding strategy with main stakeholders. Implement strategy together with internal partners. Prepare presentations for executive management meetings
What You Bring
  • Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance, or a related field
  • Fluent in English and German (C2 level for government documentation)
  • Min 5 years of experience in grant management, public funding, or a related field is a plus
  • Min 5 years of experience in preparing and submitting high-quality grant applications is a plus
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrix with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of business software (i. e. Excel, SAP, RPA tools, BI tools)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex processes and timelines.
  • High numerical affinity and structured approach
  • Excellent team player to support and serve the global team
  • Proactive and solution oriented. Ability to pull inputs, to influence and to interact with interface partners in different parts and levels of the organization
  • You are willing to work in a global, flexible team with focus on topics and not hierarchies and you are a self-starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
