The Steam Turbine Rotor team is continually evolving with the breadth of work as we face a whole new industry of work content on the Charlotte campus and global change in the energy market. Our success depends on the creativity, skill, and innovation of every employee as we develop new ways to process higher volume work more efficiently as a team. From the smallest rotor (<1,000 lbs.) to the largest (>150 tons), we manufacture them all with innovative machining and assembly.

A Snapshot of Your Dayac

  • The primary job requirements of this position are to perform a variety of component welds, using both machine and manual processes. Work directly with engineering personnel on testing & R&D projects. Cross-train in other rotor blading, lug welding, and assembly skills as required by area workload. Performing machine welding on steam turbine rotor shafts is the position’s primary function.
  • You will receive written/verbal instructions from supervisors/manufacturing engineers, interprets detailed drawings/sketches, blueprints, manufactures specifications, etc., and determine necessary tools. Load/unload parts from welding machines and/or assists crane operator. Sets up components, welding machines, wire spools and setting machine parameters per job documentation and drawing specifications.
  • Uses manual and machine welders to perform exotic welding of various components and steam rotors.
  • Abide by all company policies regarding, safety, quality, housekeeping, and performance expectations.

  • How You Will Make an Impact
  • Minimum 2 years’ previous machine and manual welding experience or currently enrolled in/graduate of a welding apprenticeship program.
  • Must be able to attain in-house certifications within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass weld tests identified during the interview process.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
  • As a federal contractor, Siemens Energy continues to monitor federal and state legal guidelines regarding the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
