A Snapshot of Your Day

You will perform assigned duties as necessary and comply with all company work instructions and quality management system instructions. You will be reviewing and interpreting complex assembly instruction, specifications, and blueprints to inspect, replace, install and maintain a variety of mechanical components or assemblies on gas turbines, rotating compressors and associated packages.  Visually inspect clean and inventory all incoming equipment and materials needed for assemblies.  You will perform fitting and precision alignments of mechanical components using tools and required methods for the assemblies of turbines compressors and packages. You will work with engineering and management to refine assembly best practices as well as train less experienced technicians. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Uphold and adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety standards and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform assigned duties as necessary and comply with all company work instructions and quality management system policies
  • Review and interpret complex assembly instructions, specifications, and blueprints in order to inspect, repair, replace, install and maintain a variety of mechanical components or assemblies on gas turbines, compressors and associated packages
  • Safely rig and offload incoming parts using proper lifting/rigging equipment and techniques then inventory, clean and visually inspect all components and stage all equipment needed for assembly. Perform measurements and adjustments as necessary for correct tolerances, record measurements for review.
  • Perform fitting and precision alignment of mechanical components using tools and required methods for the assembly of turbines, compressors, and associated packages
  • Use micrometers and indicators to measure tolerances to +/-0.001”, hand tools, air grinders and overhead lifting devices
  • Carry out minor repairs within the scope of the available expertise which may include making part adjustments using various machining techniques
  • Notify management/engineering of issues and deviations from print and regularly carry out and document simple maintenance and cleaning work according to the specifications or maintenance plan.
  • Work with management/engineering to refine assembly best practices and train less experienced Assembly Technicians
  • Cross train and assist in other departments such as packaging and test on a regular basis

What You Bring 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years relevant experience in Assembly or Manufacturing of Rotating Equipment
  • Preference given to applicants with specific expert knowledge of Siemens Energy Turbomachinery rotating equipment assembly (particularly RF and Datum range of turbo-compressors) including development and interpretation of technical assembly instructions, build methods and sequencing of core compressor internals and auxiliaries
  • Excellent communicator who can work with Engineering, Quality, Material Control, and all other crafts in production
  • Able to travel approximately 15% of the time when the need arises
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers
