About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
Working in the Orlando office, the Thermal/Blading Engineer will lead the creation of specific steam turbine documents to support proposals and customer orders for steam turbine modernization and upgrades. The Thermal/Blading Engineer will design the thermal island and various blade paths to meet customer contractual requirements.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform thermodynamic design and calculations for proposals and development projects while attending customer meetings during proposal and contract negotiations in support of thermal performance discussions.
- Process thermodynamic data from heat flow diagrams and cycle calculations and develop thermal performance models and conduct level set meetings.
- Analyze turbine operating behavior under the various specified load and failure mode conditions and create all thermodynamic documents to support proposals and COE projects
- Design steam turbine blade paths that meet performance and cost targets
- Design adjacent casing and rotor geometries (i.e. stress relief groove, casing exhaust geometry, balancing planes)
- Check relevant blading drawings for accurate implementation of blading design data and provide blading design for proposals and participate in design reviews, as required.
What You Bring
- Prior energy experience preferred
- Prior steam and/or gas turbine thermal and blading design knowledge is desired
- Desire and technical capability to understand the design of our products, how features impact design for manufacturability, material selection, and product cost
- Experience with Teamcenter, SAP, CAD tools is desired
- Must be legally authorized for employment in the USA without the need for current or future employer sponsored work authorization.
Soft Skills
- Approachable, organized, active listener, clear communicator, collaborative, customer-focused
