A Snapshot of Your Day
The VAT Specialist will be an integral part of the Siemens Energy tax team. The professional in this position will be responsible to ensure Siemens Energy US operating companies are aligned with European Union (EU) VAT rules and regulations. This position will work with both internal and external contacts. External contacts will include taxing authorities, vendors, and partners. Internally this position will interface with business, tax and accounting personnel and management to acquire data to conduct tax compliance, audit and consulting activities to meet reporting requirements. Moreover, the individual in this position will support other international and cross border advisory and reporting activities in the Siemens Energy tax team!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Advise management regarding business and internal programs and activities as they relate to VAT tax matters.
- Lead the timely and accurate VAT compliance activities of Siemens Energy US to ensure the monthly, quarterly and annual compliance cycles are completed in a cost effective, accurate and timely manner.
- Review complex proposals and transactions for VAT tax implications and recommend actions that meet business plans while ensuring compliance and managing the VAT liability.
- Provide expert tax analysis, planning, control and reporting for the business consistent with Siemens Energy guidelines and requirements.
- Coordinate with US and EU external partners to provide commercial colleagues with timely written and verbal VAT advice.
- Research, recommend and implement Siemens Energy process changes that reduce potential VAT exposure.
What You Bring
- BS Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 7+ years of successful experience in EU VAT and successful demonstration of responsibilities and knowledge presented above.
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to research, interpret and apply VAT laws using tax research software.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to interact independently with peers and management, possess excellent accounting, communication and analytical skills and work under internal and external deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint in addition experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP) preferred.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
