SNAPSHOT OF YOUR DAY


As a Trainee Design Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working to develop innovative engineering solutions. Your day will involve contributing to product design, creating prototypes, and supporting technical aspects of development projects. With guidance from senior team members, you’ll engage in continuous learning, refine your technical skills, and gain exposure to the entire product lifecycle—from concept creation to productionisation.



HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT


1. Development:


-  Actively participate in learning opportunities outlined in your induction plan.


-  Enhance technical skills, design methodologies, and industry knowledge under the guidance of your line manager.


1. Business & Product Knowledge:


-  Build a foundational understanding of our products, customer needs, and business operations.


1. Innovation & Collaboration:


-  Contribute ideas and embrace a collaborative environment to support brainstorming and concept development.


-  Be inquisitive and seek opportunities to innovate.


1. Technical Responsibility:


-  Assist with technical aspects of product development, including concept generation, testing, and documentation.


1. Process & Improvements:


-  Learn and adhere to departmental processes, supporting ongoing improvements.



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


-  Concept and Prototyping:


-  Support brainstorming sessions and create initial design sketches using Autodesk Inventor.


-  Assist in building physical prototypes to visualize design ideas.


-  Detail Design:


-  Generate detailed technical drawings and models for components and assemblies.


-  Use calculation templates to support design solutions.


-  Testing:


-  Help create testing documentation, conduct prototype testing, and record results.


-  Productionisation:


-  Gain exposure to production processes and contribute to design modifications for manufacturability.


-  Assist in preparing manufacturing documentation, such as procedures and datasheets.



WHAT YOU BRING


-  Key Skills:


-  Basic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.


-  Understanding of fundamental engineering principles.


-  Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.


-  Effective communication and teamwork abilities.


-  Education:


-  Mechanical or Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent.
