A Snapshot of Your Day

You will be fully responsible for the successful execution of Components Engineering Projects, covering commercial and technical controls, risk management, and project leadership. You will manage multiple projects from inception to handover, ensuring delivery within agreed time, quality, and cost parameters. Working alongside the Principal Engineer, you will provide direction, support, and coordination with limited supervision. You will lead a network of technical specialists and occasionally supervise apprentice personnel!

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Provide project management, coordination, and guidance to the project team.
  • Ensure adherence to project management processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage technical and commercial project risks and opportunities.
  • Report and support project activities to senior managers and team leaders.
  • Drive process and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Support project finance plans and reporting.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through professional partner management.
  • Review project requirements, generate schedules, resource plans, and costs.
  • Represent the company as the point of contact for clients.
  • Contribute to strategic tasks and projects.
  • Adhere to safety processes and identify improvement opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Proven Project management experience, ideally with a Prince 2, APM or equivalent qualification.
  • Understanding of workplace planning, commercial, and contract management.
  • Knowledge of customer operations and satisfaction implications.
  • Awareness of manufacturing operations and techniques.
  • Experience in risk management throughout the project cycle.
  • Strong leadership, delegation, task management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management methodology, processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Office, Excel, and ERP systems (SAP) is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to make quality decisions based on relevant data.
  • Self-motivated, committed, and solutions-driven mentality.

About the Team

The project management office is a motivated team of 11, managing 20 to 30 projects at any time. Typical project teams consist of 4-6 engineers, 1-2 test technicians, and other specialists. Based in Ulverston, the team stays on projects through their full life cycle. We meet weekly to share experiences, offer support, and continuously improve as a team.
