About the Role
Process Engineer – Simulation Modeling
A Snapshot of Your Day
As the Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our Metallurgical Engineering team at the Tampa facility, driving business continuity and optimizing the manufacturing processes for gas turbine blades and vanes. This position emphasizes advanced Process Simulation & Modeling, Process Improvement & Optimization, and Technical Project Management, allowing you to utilize cutting-edge analytical techniques to model intricate metallurgical processes. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a relevant engineering discipline and extensive experience in process simulation within a heavy manufacturing environment. You will independently manage complex projects, applying your deep understanding of engineering principles to identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and operational stability.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop, validate, and maintain complex simulation models of metallurgical manufacturing processes, including casting, coating, and heat treatment, utilizing 3D modeling and mathematical analysis to predict outcomes and identify production bottlenecks.
- Analyze simulation results to provide data-driven recommendations for process adjustments and capital equipment investments, ensuring proposed designs meet technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Analyze production data and simulation outputs to identify opportunities for improving process quality, reducing costs, and increasing throughput, while leading troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex manufacturing workflow issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to implement and validate process changes, ensuring alignment with design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and supporting the design, testing, and modification of prototypes and tooling.
- Manage process improvement projects from conception through implementation, working independently to meet deadlines and objectives while developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
- Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals, providing technical guidance and mentorship on engineering best practices, and effectively communicate project status, technical findings, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders and management.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Science Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a process engineering role within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with process simulation software and 3D modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to manage engineering projects and work independently on complex technical challenges.
- This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
