A Snap Shot of your Day:

The role works with the O&M Manager and collaborates with the O&M services contract to handle technical tasks in instrumentation, control, and electrical systems. The key responsibility is to implement I&C functions while ensuring safety, reliability, efficiency, and alignment to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Performs instrument calibrations, field checks, fixing, and maintenance on control equipment or other equipment, as assigned. Maintains and installs control, monitoring, alarm and indicating systems and their individual components.
  • Upkeep of the maintenance management system. Maintain logs of problems, repairs, and downtime. Maintenance of DCIS and PLC system. While performing maintenance on 4160 volt and 480 volt equipment, breakers and switchgear, and plant tests and maintaining all facility equipment through corrective, predictive and planned activities.
  • Monitors projects in regards to schedule, labor, material needs and safety as assigned. And may be required to perform tests, repairs and modifications while systems are on line. And identifies design improvements and/or problems; recommends and installs modifications for resolution.
  • Works with outside contractors during overhauls or at other times, as required, and trains others to gain knowledge as required. Provides training (safety and IC&E) of new hires, as needed. Receives training to further knowledge, prepare for advancement and maintain safety awareness. While assisting in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents and unusual events; provides input and recommendations for reports and follow-up plans.
  • Writes, reviews and revises maintenance and related procedures. While solving issues with equipment and systems, and provides/performs corrective action. Performs failure analysis to establish cause of equipment/system malfunction. And completes the required training/qualifications for the role of an IC&E Technician. Willing to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What You Bring

  • Candidates with knowledge and experience in electronics and instrumentation are preferred. Proficiency in the English language and basic mathematical skills are required. A high school diploma or equivalent experience is a requirement. Additionally, an Associates' degree/certification in electrical or controls field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability as an industrial electrician with 5 years experience as an IC&E Technician in a power plant environment.
  • Knowledge of large generators, transformers, 4160/480 volt switchgear and systems, instruments, controls and relaying equipment, troubleshooting techniques. And the ability to read and understand P&IDs, electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to pass respirator fit tests to use respiratory protective equipment at all times.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word. Peoplesoft preferred.
