A Snapshot of Your Day

You lead the regional Project Governance & PMO function at the intersection of execution excellence, portfolio oversight, and strategic decision support for substation projects across Asia Pacific & China. Your day starts with a clear view on project health, driven by dashboards, structured project reviews, and early-warning signals coming from project teams, country organizations, and your PMO specialists.

You steer a governance system that ensures consistent application of project management standards, disciplined risk management, and timely escalation. You actively shape management decisions by translating complex project realities into clear, decision-ready insights—particularly around financial and commercial risk exposure, execution risks, and recovery priorities.

Through your team, you ensure that insights from sites and interfaces become systemic improvements—not isolated fixes—by driving standards, capabilities, and transformation initiatives across the portfolio.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own regional portfolio transparency and project health governance, ensuring reliable reporting, comparability of data, and a disciplined review cadence across APAC & China.
  • Identify underperforming or high-risk projects early and lead structured interventions, including recovery planning, escalation, and targeted hands-on support to restore delivery confidence.
  • Drive proactive management of financial and commercial risk exposure across the portfolio (e.g., claims/variations, contractual risks), ensuring early-warning mechanisms and cross-functional alignment with Finance and Legal.
  • Establish and lead the regional Project Governance & PMO team, setting clear priorities, coaching capabilities, and enabling high-impact support to projects without diluting line responsibilities.
  • Deploy execution excellence levers across the region through (a) site-focused troubleshooting and coaching on contractor performance, EHS, and quality discipline, and (b) interface optimization with logistics, factories (transformers/switchgear), Service (I&C), and Substation Automation.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve governance frameworks, tools, standards, and ways of working (including lessons learned), driving consistent adoption across countries and projects.
  • Lead regional transformation initiatives in project execution and governance—incl. implementation of AI-based project management tools—ensuring measurable improvement in execution reliability, risk visibility, and decision quality.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in project management within complex EPC/turnkey environments; 5+ years in project governance, PMO, or portfolio oversight roles (energy/infrastructure preferred).
  • Proven track record in recovering underperforming projects through structured intervention, strong stakeholder management, and disciplined execution governance.
  • Strong understanding of project financials and commercial risk management (margin, cash, claims, contracts), with the ability to translate risk signals into actionable management decisions.
  • Ability to lead and influence in a matrix organization—driving change and standard adoption without relying solely on line authority.
  • Experience working across Asia Pacific & China, with sensitivity to regional regulatory, cultural, and contractor-market nuances.
  • Familiarity with PM@SE, IPMA/PMP/PgMP (or comparable methodologies); fluency in English required, additional regional languages (e.g., Mandarin/Bahasa) are a plus; willingness to travel across the region as needed.
