About the Role
Snapshot of Your Day
As a CNC programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
To ensure success as a CNC Programmer, you should have extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised. Ultimately, a top-class CNC programmer works quickly and efficiently, ensuring all products meet the specifications of the client. Work alongside a team of mechanics, machinists, inspectors, engineers, and project managers in the manufacture of critical replacement parts for turbomachinery.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop and create CNC programs for machines to efficiently produce parts according to specifications, including inputting product designs into computer modeling software.
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machining requirements and sequences, and adjust machine settings to meet desired product specifications.
- Optimize existing CNC programs for improved efficiency, accuracy, and reduced cycle times, while choosing and loading the correct cutting tools for each job.
- Conduct setup, calibration, and routine maintenance of CNC machines to ensure proper operation and quality output, troubleshooting any issues during the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Train new staff on machine operation procedures and best practices to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
What You Bring
- 5-10 years of experience as a CNC programmer, specifically with parts for rotating and/or reciprocating equipment (e.g., steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, reciprocating compressors, turbochargers, valves, dry gas seals) in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprint designs, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Vericut and Mastercam, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook).
- Experience with SAP and Teamcenter is desired. Extensive experience with computer modeling software.
- Proven track record of working in organizations with a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Quality.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime to support client outages, with strong project management capabilities and a team player attitude. Ability to interpret shop instructions and manufacturing drawings, with a teachable attitude and willingness to learn. Must possess a humble disposition, able to accept constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement.
