About the Role
B&V Data Scientist
A Snap Shot of your Day:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring that the Blades and Vanes procurement team has access to the data and reports they need to keep the business running smoothly. Using your knowledge of data science tools and business reporting principles, you will serve as the team’s main data expert. You will work on a wide range of data-related tasks including proposing new reporting solutions, defining requirements, developing dashboards, advising the team on sound analytic approaches, conducting ad-hoc analyses, and more. To be successful in this role, you will need to be adaptable, collaborative, creative, and able to communicate complex technical concepts in a way that is accessible to a diverse audience.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Identify and implement data pipelines (data ingestion, cleansing, and preparation) relevant to forecasting and reporting
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for stakeholders (model outputs and data visualizations) and communicate your finding to management
- Collaborate with subject experts to define requirements and develop innovative reporting solutions. Ensure data accuracy and consistency through regular output validation and correction
- Build and maintain models and dashboards for regular use (e.g., causal models to measure and quantify the impact of drivers on demand)
- Establish operationalization through automation (e.g., drive robot reporting initiatives, set up model repositories)
- Manage relationships to internal data providers/sources (Service, Berlin, etc.)
- Prepare internal trainings to transfer knowledge to other technical and non-technical team members
What You Bring
- Strong background in general data science topics (e.g., data preparation, mathematical foundations, modeling, data analytics) Basic understanding of software development principles (e.g., modularity, testing, version control), common databases and paradigms, and data management practices
- Robust communication skills and experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience in technical implementation of data science applications, frameworks, and data pipelines (e.g. R, Python, Git, SQL, Snowflake)
- Able to communicate at different levels with partners and to create appropriate data visualizations (e.g. PowerBI, Alteryx, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Advanced Degree or equivalent experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or other field of study with a strong quantitative focus (e.g., Econometrics, Quantitative Finance)
- 2+ years of professional experience developing data science solutions in a business context
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines, and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
