A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Specialist Professional (P4), this role will provide subject matter expertise focused on the critical commodity of investment casting, ensuring supplier quality meets Siemens Energy standards. To meet this objective, the role is structured around three core areas: Supplier Qualification & Development, Product & Process Assurance, and Performance Management & Continuous Improvement. This framework ensures a comprehensive approach, from onboarding and validating new investment casting suppliers (directionally solidified, single crystal and equiaxed) to managing the quality of new components and driving ongoing performance enhancements. Given the focus on these areas, the ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in casting processes, metallurgy, ceramic shell building and wax pattern production.

How You’ll Make an Impact

40% Supplier Qualification & Development

• Lead comprehensive on-site audits and technical assessments of new and existing casting suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and technical specifications.

• Manage the qualification and certification process for new casting suppliers, ensuring their processes and capabilities align with product requirements and business strategy.

• Develop and implement strategic supplier improvement plans based on performance data, audit findings, and risk analysis to enhance quality and capability.

• Coach and train supplier personnel on quality protocols, process controls, and preventative action methodologies specific to casting manufacturing.

30% Product & Process Assurance

• Manage the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new and modified cast components, serving as the quality lead from development to launch.

• Lead the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with suppliers, ensuring all documentation, process controls, and part submissions meet requirements.

• Define and validate critical inspection and testing methods for casting-specific defects, ensuring alignment between supplier capabilities and engineering specifications.

• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback related to casting processes.

30% Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

• Drive systematic root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5-Why) and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for complex supplier quality issues.

• Monitor, analyze, and report on key supplier performance indicators (KPIs), initiating action plans for underperforming suppliers.

• Act as the primary technical liaison for resolving critical supplier quality escalations related to casting defects or performance.

• Identify and lead continuous improvement projects with suppliers utilizing methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC).

What You Bring

•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical field.

•Minimum of 8 years of experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on casting processes (e.g., investment casting, sand casting).

•Demonstrated experience as a subject matter expert managing large projects or processes with limited oversight.

•Must possess extensive experience working in or alongside casting suppliers, auditing, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and complex problem-solving, supported by a relevant engineering degree and a proven track record of managing large projects with limited oversight.

•Certifications: Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification ; ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
