A Snapshot of Your Day
Imagine beginning your day by evaluating the latest structural test and simulation results to identify opportunities for improving the reliability and performance of wind turbine blades. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like structural engineers, materials and manufacturing experts and test labs. To review current challenges and align technical solutions that support manufacturing efficiency and long-term blade durability. As midday approaches, you lead a design review meeting, scrutinizing conceptual models and test outcomes to ensure new structural technologies meet rigorous industry standards and technical requirements.
In the afternoon, your focus shifts to supporting production implementation and managing technical risks through analysis and validation procedures. You round off your day by mentoring junior engineers, sharing insights into complex structural concepts, and preparing documentation for upcoming product launches. Ensuring every improvement is seamlessly integrated into the blade development roadmap and continuous improvement processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Take ownership of driving new structural developments
- Lead technical risk management efforts, including FMEA analysis, structural verification, and validation processes, establishing design standards and integrating them into receiving products
- Develop and implement quality improvement and cost out measures
- Lead innovation and conceptualize how new technologies can strengthen the Blade Structures area
- Establish a clear understanding of design drivers and have a structured approach to expand the boundaries
- Manage projects with internal and external stakeholders and secure good and close communication
What You Bring
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Physics Engineering, Wind Energy or a related field
- Strong expertise in structural analysis and design of composite wind turbine blades using the butterfly (bonded half shell) manufacturing concept including related failure modes, load calculations, material properties, and integrity evaluations
- Proficiency in simulation tools and standards, with experience creating and validating complex FEA models for static and fatigue loads (preferably ANSYS)
- Ability to work closely with design, manufacturing, and technology teams to solve complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills – you make technical insights clear and engaging for diverse stakeholders
- Curiosity and initiative – you bring fresh ideas, adaptability, and a structured approach to drive progress in a dynamic environment
