A Snapshot of Your Day
Primary responsibilities include the development and execution of commodity strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, and lead times. The successful candidate will be the regional strategic lead for commodity of Machined Parts & Fasteners required for Siemens Energy. This position has responsibility for Region India.
The Regional Commodity Manager position is an individual contributor role that provides strategic leadership for their assigned commodity within Siemens Energy.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage the Commodity Machined Parts and Fasteners made out of high alloyed steel, aluminium & copper for India region supplier base including Supplier Scouting, Development, Governance & Supply Chain Resilience
- Follow & contribute to the Global Ecosystem Strategy from Corporate Commodity Managers in alignment with cross functional partners and the business areas of Siemens Energy
- Ensure India region supplier base is identified, developed and effectively used by Siemens Energy businesses globally.
- Ensure transparency on cost structures and spend in area of responsibility via Commodity Circles
- Create and implement business specific initiatives and measures based on respective commodity strategy in alignment with Global Ecosystem strategy and business objectives
- Increase Managed Spend in the area of responsibility by safeguarding awarding following the defined commodity strategy for India region supplier base.
- Maintain competitive supply base in alignment with Global Ecosystem strategy and Commodity Circle
- In alignment with the Corporate Commodity Manager, execute periodic strategic procurement activities – negotiations planning, commodity strategy updates, awarding strategy and sourcing board approvals, quarterly review meetings, etc.
- Prepare, negotiate & award frame contracts & price agreements for strategic suppliers in accordance with business and market requirements (on request and alignment with CCM’s)
- Manage the relationship with assigned strategic suppliers (in alignment with CCM’s)
- Generate, document and implement savings measures, monitor and report relevant KPI
- Drive early procurement / supplier involvement and cost out activities via respective Commodity Circles
- Identify procurement risks and opportunities and implement respective measures
- Feedback India region supplier market information and knowledge to stakeholders through network.
- Drive supply/supplier management processes (e.g., qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification)
What You Bring
- · Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field, required.
- · A minimum of 10 years’ collective experience working in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, discipline, or similar function and having Machining (Turning/Milling/Drilling) experience is must.
- · Advanced knowledge of sourcing processes.
- · Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
- · Strong working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes for assigned commodity.
- · Excellent change management skills and demonstrated ability to lead change.
- · Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- · Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions.
- · Ability to influence through effective verbal and written communication skills; clearly and succinctly conveys information and ideas to individuals and groups.
- · Good problem solving and decision-making skills, Leader, self-starter.
- · Must be able to travel min. 30% both domestically and internationally, Must be able to speak English.
- · SM or APICS Certified, Lean/Six Sigma experience, Multilingual language skills are a plus Preferred knowledge of Turbine & Turbomachinery Industry.
