A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Power Performance Field Engineer / Technician, you will execute field-based activities supporting power performance testing for Wind Power Onshore projects across North America. Your daily work will focus on preparing Siemens Gamesa wind turbines for IEC power curve verification by confirming turbine configuration, control settings, turbine-mounted sensors, and electrical measurement systems. You will regularly perform data quality checks, reviewing turbine and SCADA data for completeness, plausibility, and alignment with IEC requirements.

You will collaborate closely with site operations to ensure safe turbine access and coordinated configuration changes while minimizing operational impacts. You will engage with independent engineering services to support test preparation, resolve technical questions, and confirm turbine readiness. In this role, you contribute to continuous improvement by applying lessons learned, supporting standardization, and upholding Siemens Gamesa’s highest standards for health, safety, quality, and compliance.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Perform internal turbine preparation and readiness verification for IEC power curve guarantee testing.

• Verify turbine configuration, software versions, and operational settings required for testing.

• Ensure turbine operation in IEC-compliant control modes, including removal of curtailments or derates as approved.

• Conduct pre-test inspections, including pitch and yaw calibration verification and turbine status review.

• Identify abnormal operation, faults, or warnings that may impact test validity.

• Confirm availability, configuration, and accuracy of electrical power measurement systems.

• Validate turbine and electrical data channels, sampling rates, filtering, and storage capacity.

• Perform data quality and plausibility checks to identify missing data or anomalies.

• Prepare and maintain turbine-side test readiness documentation.

• Provide technical inputs, data, and documentation to internal teams, customers, and independent engineering services.

• Review contracts and independent test plans to ensure alignment with Siemens Gamesa testing practices.

• Coordinate with site operations for turbine access, configuration changes, and operational readiness.

• Collaborate with independent engineering services to confirm turbine-side compliance and data expectations.

• Engage Siemens Gamesa engineering, controls, and operations teams to resolve issues efficiently.

• Support implementation of lessons learned and technical improvements across projects.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent field experience.

• Proven experience climbing and working in operational wind turbines, including hands-on technical work within the tower, nacelle, and hub in accordance with Siemens Gamesa safety procedures.

• Valid wind turbine safety certifications (e.g., GWO Basic Safety Training or Siemens Gamesa-approved equivalent).

• Experience supporting power performance testing, turbine validation, commissioning, or related activities.

• Working knowledge of IEC 61400‑12‑1 power performance testing requirements.

• Familiarity with Siemens Gamesa turbine platforms operating in North America.

• Ability to analyze turbine and SCADA data using standard tools (e.g., Excel, data visualization or analytics tools).

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Willingness to travel extensively (25%-50%) and work in operational wind farm environments.
