A Snapshot of Your Day (Position Overview)

As a Mechanical Design Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the mechanical design strategy for complex industrial and infrastructure projects supporting Siemens Energy’s global operations. Your day may include leading mechanical design reviews, coordinating with engineering consultants and multidisciplinary teams, evaluating system performance and feasibility studies, and ensuring all mechanical systems align with technical, operational, sustainability, and safety requirements. You will collaborate closely with project teams, digital engineering specialists, and global stakeholders to drive design excellence from concept through commissioning. This role offers the opportunity to influence high-impact projects while supporting innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term facility performance.

How You’ll Make an Impact (Responsibilities)

  • Lead mechanical design development for major industrial construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring all mechanical systems align with Siemens Energy standards, operational requirements, sustainability objectives, and industry regulations
  • Oversee and coordinate global and local engineering partners through feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering activities, system sizing, and development of high-quality engineering deliverables
  • Support budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning activities for mechanical design workstreams while ensuring project timelines, technical objectives, and financial targets are achieved
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate mechanical design risks related to constructability, lifecycle cost, system performance, and operational reliability through technical reviews and risk management workshops
  • Prepare and present mechanical design reports, technical documentation, calculations, and engineering updates while supporting project controls, governance activities, and multidisciplinary coordination across global teams
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to mechanical engineering standards, digital engineering tools, BIM workflows, simulation technologies, sustainability practices, and energy-efficient mechanical system design

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design management, mechanical engineering consultancy, or industrial infrastructure projects within manufacturing, energy, power generation, or similar industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, process utilities, piping, fire protection systems, energy-efficient technologies, lifecycle cost analysis, feasibility assessments, and value engineering principles
  • Experience working with engineering consultants, BIM platforms, 3D modeling tools, simulation software, and digital engineering technologies, with the ability to independently manage complex technical reviews and design coordination activities
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively across multinational, multidisciplinary teams and manage technical stakeholder relationships
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
