A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Energy North America Customs team ensures compliance with customs regulations and internal requirements efficiently. As part of the North America Customs team, the Customs Quality function conducts reviews, manages corrective actions, optimizes processes, identifies duty savings, prepares reports, locally implements IT demands for corporate core solutions and handles customs duty payments for Siemens Energy, Inc. This role is primarily responsible for analyzing preferential origin, identifying duty savings, implementing related duty optimization processes, and supporting training.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Handle requests for preferential certificates of origin, analyze origin and bill of materials, oversee the solicitation program, issue FTA-compliant certifications, and keep records with supporting documentation.
  • Identify customs duty savings by regularly analyzing goods flows and using optimization programs such as FTAs, FTA reconciliation, FTZ, Chapter 98 provisions and duty drawback.
  • Prepare FTA refund claims by evaluating entries, collecting documents, submitting USMCA Reconciliation requests to Customs Brokers, and monitoring their completion.
  • Support the duty drawback program, including collection and auditing of all imports, production, manufacturing and export data and documentation prior to claim submissions.
  • Collaborate with Siemens Energy business areas, suppliers, customs brokers, and other Customs Compliance functions to align processes, monitor changes in duty programs, and support compliance improvements and digitalization initiatives.
  • Support responses to CBP inquiries about FTA and preferential programs, complete daily and special tasks per SE Customs Internal Control Program and regulations, and report key performance indicators as needed. Provide training, guidance and assistance to business areas and the U.S. Customs operation regarding CBP’s duty optimization programs requirements and obligations.

What You Bring

  • BS degree or equivalent of education and experience in related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of 19 CFR U.S. Customs regulations. Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist is a plus!
  • Experience with ERPs, preferably SAP, and Global Trade management software.
  • Adaptability, effective collaboration across cultures, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpretative skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
