A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Automation Engineer, you’ll spend your day designing and implementing advanced control systems such as PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and safety systems for industrial sites, primarily in the oil and gas sector. You’ll work closely with a team of five experienced engineers in a collaborative and supportive environment, ensuring projects run smoothly from concept to commissioning. Your impact will be felt in delivering reliable automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety for our customers, contributing to Siemens Energy’s mission of driving industrial decarbonization. Expect a mix of office-based work and short business trips (20–30%) to customer sites in Croatia, where you’ll engage directly with clients and see your solutions come to life.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Responsible in supporting the specification, programming, integration, and implementation of Siemens control systems including DCS, SIS, ESD, PLC, HMI, SCADA, communication networks, industrial protocols, and switches.
  • Responsible in supporting the specification, configuration, integration, and implementation of loading and metering systems (e.g., FMC, Emerson, Isoil).
  • Support projects from conception through commissioning and startup.
  • Effectively serve within a team of engineers to execute scope within budget and maintain go-live commitments.
  • Visit project sites to evaluate projects and assist in defining scope and developing proposals from walk-downs.
  • Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
  • Read, understand, and translate P&ID's and electrical drawings into a DCS, PLC, HMI, SCADA application.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships.


What You Bring

  • Successfully completed University degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Information Technology.
  • Good knowledge of DCS, PLC, HMI, SCADA systems.
  • Nice to have experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
  • Familiar with network architecture and industrial communication protocols.
  • Nice to have experience with servers and virtualization technology.
  • Experience with commissioning and startup.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Willing to travel up to 30%.
