A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Automation & Digitalization Engineer at Siemens Energy, you’ll support the BVT (Blades & Vanes) Expansion project within the Operations Tampa manufacturing facility. The primary business objective is to leverage advanced automation and artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency, increase productivity, and support the growth of the manufacturing capabilities. To achieve these goals, this role will concentrate on three core areas: the development and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions tailored for manufacturing processes, the design and implementation of robust automation workflows, and the management of the underlying data infrastructure required to support these systems. This focus ensures that digitalization efforts are directly applied to tangible operational improvements, from quality control to predictive maintenance. Given the focus on applying advanced technology in an industrial setting, the ideal candidate will possess significant experience in AI/ML engineering combined with a strong understanding of manufacturing environments. Key requirements include advanced proficiency in programming and data management, experience with ML frameworks, and a proven ability to independently manage complex technical projects from conception to integration.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for manufacturing applications, including predictive maintenance, process optimization, and quality control.
  • Apply computer vision techniques to automate visual inspection tasks and enhance defect detection accuracy on the production line.
  • Train, validate, and optimize AI models using data sourced from manufacturing equipment and operational systems.
  • Research and implement advanced AI/ML methodologies, such as deep learning and generative AI, to address complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing workflows to identify and prioritize opportunities for digitalization and automation.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts and solutions to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational throughput.
  • Integrate AI/ML models and digital tools into production systems, MES platforms, and equipment using APIs and other integration technologies.
  • Manage automation project lifecycles from requirements gathering through deployment and post‑implementation support.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and processing high‑volume industrial data.
  • Implement MLOps practices to establish CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models, ensuring reliable deployment and monitoring.
  • Ensure data governance, quality, and integrity for all datasets used in AI training and operational analytics.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams to manage both cloud and on‑premise infrastructure supporting AI development and deployment.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in developing and implementing AI, machine learning, or automation solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML in an industrial, manufacturing, or operational technology (OT) environment is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and familiarity with emerging generative AI approaches.
  • Strong technical capabilities in Python, SQL, automation, software engineering concepts, and integrating applications through APIs.
  • Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and collaborative skills to support complex technical problem‑solving in cross-functional environments.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
