Position Title: Wind Turbine Technician
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Wind Turbine Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of wind turbine assets across onshore sites in South Africa. You will carry out maintenance, diagnostics, and repair activities while working in a safety-first environment.
This role combines hands-on technical work with advanced troubleshooting and collaboration with the wider service team, ensuring high operational availability and performance of wind turbines.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbine systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components
- Execute major component replacements and retrofits using specialized tools and equipment
- Climb turbines to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in compliance with safety standards
- Conduct torqueing, tensioning, and inspections to ensure structural and mechanical integrity
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues in turbine control systems, SCADA systems, and electrical circuits
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, anticipate failures, and recommend improvements
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians on complex or non-routine issues
- Ensure strict adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and working-at-heights procedures
- Complete detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and quality documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, spare parts, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
What You Bring
- Vocational or technical qualification in Wind Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician
- Strong experience with high-voltage systems, hydraulics, and mechanical components
- Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and engineering drawings
- Electrical Trade Certificate is required
