Position Title: Power Plant Operator / Control Room Operator

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a combined cycle power plant. You will monitor and control plant equipment through the Distributed Control System (DCS), ensure compliance with operational procedures, and respond effectively to operational events and emergencies. Working closely with maintenance and operations teams, you will contribute to achieving generation targets while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Operate and monitor power plant equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and generators, via the DCS T3000 system.
  • Execute plant start-up, shutdown, and operational changeovers in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations to ensure plant safety and continuity of operations.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation while meeting generation and performance targets.
  • Utilize SPPA-M3000 to manage shift logs, fault notifications, work orders, and spare parts requisitions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and process issues, coordinating closely with maintenance teams for timely resolution.
  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations; actively participate in safety drills, Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes, and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs and reports and ensure clear and structured shift handovers.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments, and actively participate in operational meetings.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for operational efficiency and safety improvements and engage in continuous training and development activities.

What You Bring

Technical & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in combined cycle power plant operations is an advantage; motivated fresh graduates with relevant academic knowledge are encouraged to apply.
  • Solid understanding of power plant operations, control systems, and emergency response decision-making.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine operation and maintenance principles.
  • Good level of digital literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in time-critical situations.
  • Good communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to collaborate across functions and shifts.
