O roli
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a master’s thesis student, you will work on improving fatigue life prediction methods for turbine exhaust components subjected to different thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) loading conditions. Your daily activities will include conducting literature reviews, analysing TMF damage mechanisms, performing finite element (FE) simulations, and working with our in-house fatigue assessment tool. You will work closely with your supervisors and benefit from continuous learning, mentorship, and collaboration within a supportive and inspiring team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Conduct literature review on fatigue life prediction under different TMF loading conditions.
- Analyse the influence of high temperature and creep damage on fatigue life.
- Explore suitable approaches for assessing fatigue life under TMF loading.
- Perform FE simulations to predict the fatigue life of exhaust components.
- Evaluate and compare the investigated fatigue life predictions.
What You Bring
- Background in applied mechanics, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
- Interest in high-temperature fatigue behaviour of metallic materials.
- Working knowledge of the FE software ABAQUS.
- Strong analytical skills and motivation to solve engineering problems.
- Collaborative with strong desire to learn, adapt, and contribute to a diverse team.
About the Team
The Turbine Mechanical Integrity (MI) team addresses technical challenges related to the lifetime assessment of high-temperature components and systems in gas turbines. An important aspect of ensuring the reliability of our results is the development and implementation of robust fatigue life models. Our team includes specialists in the field who are enthusiastic about sharing expertise and offering guidance and support.
We are a diverse and experienced group, enthusiastic about welcoming new talents and perspectives. We believe that a variety of backgrounds and experiences strengthens our work and our workplace. Join us and help shape the future of energy technology!
If you are ready to take on new challenges, develop your skills, and be part of a supportive and inclusive team, we look forward to your application!
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
