A Snapshot of Your Day
The HV Site Engineer will report to the Grid Technology Service – Substation Upgrades business and is responsible for ensuring the environmentally safe operation of in‑service high voltage substations. This role includes executing technical field assignments such as monitoring, servicing, and repairing substation equipment, as well as recommending corrective measures to enhance field service operations and customer satisfaction. The HV Site Engineer may be assigned work independently or as part of a larger electrical substation or power plant project, and will report directly to the Field Service Manager
This position requires the individual to be on-site three days per week for 10-hour shifts, while remaining on-call 24/7 with the ability to respond on-site within one to two hours in the event of an emergency. In the case of a problem or alarm, the technician will promptly notify Client personnel and O&M teams as necessary and work collaboratively with Siemens Engineering Subject Matter Experts to troubleshoot and resolve active alarms or the issue at hand.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Supervise, coordinate, and manage Service projects at job sites, including instructing contractors, collaborating with customers and partners, and ensuring timely, effective, safe, and cost-efficient execution in line with corporate, industry, and customer regulations and standards.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault analysis on equipment; support repairs using knowledge and experience; and manage software, tools, and spare parts inventory.
- Communicate clearly and professionally - both written and verbal - regarding safety, security, environmental incidents, violations, or near misses; conduct tailgate meetings; and follow/enforce Siemens Environmental Health & Safety policies.
- Complete time and expense reports, field service job reports, and other required documentation using appropriate online/administrative tools or software.
- Recommend changes or modified procedures to improve performance, enhance efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction while providing ongoing support and service to customers and project partners.
- Assist in the development of service proposals, including planning, costing, and workforce requirements, while working as part of a field team to ensure all activities are successfully executed.
What You Bring
- 5+ years’ experience in substation installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair is preferred. Additional training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Experience of working on construction sites, and OHSA 30hr Certification required.
- Have working knowledge of computer & Microsoft office skills.
- Self-confidence, hardworking, teamwork, ordinated, dedicated.
