Join our dedicated team at Siemens Energy as a Firmware and Hardware Testing Support Specialist, where your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and functionality of our automation systems. Imagine downloading and installing patches on our testbed in Erlangen, performing essential backups of virtual machines, and documenting software versions with precision. You will transition automation devices between virtual environments, conduct basic functionality tests on software like WinCC, and upload successfully tested patches to our customer share. Your meticulous documentation will be key in maintaining our high standards of quality and reliability.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Download and install firmware and software updates on the testbed, ensuring all systems are up-to-date.
• Perform backups of virtual machines prior to updates or installations to safeguard data integrity.
• Document current software versions and maintain accurate records for compliance and traceability.
• Transition connected automation devices between different virtual environments for various project pre-tests.
• Conduct basic functionality tests post-patch installation, including testing HMI software and its communication with IPCOMM devices.

What You Bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in firmware and hardware testing, particularly within automation systems.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and managing virtual machines effectively.
• Knowledge of HMI software, especially WinCC, and relevant communication protocols.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail, enabling you to manage multiple tasks independently.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
